Basic Tahini Sauce

Tahini is a staple dipping sauce/dressing at our house and in most Israeli homes. We eat tahini on a daily basis. Tahini paste is made out of grind sesame seeds and nothing else. It is high in protein, a rich source of B vitamins that boost energy and brain function, vitamin E, which is protective against heart disease and stroke, and important minerals, such as magnesium, iron, and calcium.

It is super versatile and can be used in savory as well as sweet recipes.

Ingredients for Basic Tahini

1 cup tahini

1 cup cold water

1 lemon, juiced

1 clove of garlic, minced

+salt

Directions

Add all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix with a whisk until smooth and creamy. Store it in a container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

If you like it to be thinner, add more water. Feel free to adjust the consistency to your liking.

Another option is to add all the ingredients to a food processor and process until smooth.

Ingredients for Green Tahini

1 cup tahini

1 cup cold water

1 lemon, juiced

1 clove of garlic, minced

bunch of fresh parsley, (only leaves without the stems)

+salt

Ingredients for Pink Tahini

1 cup tahini

1 cup cold water

1 lemon, juiced

1 clove of garlic, minced

1 small beet, fresh or steamed

+salt

add all the ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth.

Ingredients for Yellow Tahini

1 cup tahini

1 cup cold water

1 lemon, juiced

1 clove of garlic, minced

1 inch piece of fresh turmeric root or 3/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

+salt
