Beer Bread
This recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser! The bread comes out of the oven perfectly risen, with a moist and flavorful crumb. It's so easy to throw together – just 5 minutes of prep and 40-50 minutes in the oven. Plus, you can easily customize it with your favorite nuts or seeds. In a pinch, this recipe is a lifesaver – your house will smell amazing, and you'll have irresistible homemade bread to serve your guests.
For a Walnut Bread - simply add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts to the batter, after you mix the dough ingredients.
Gluten-Free Beer Bread Ingredients
1 1/2 cups chickpea flour (or gf flour blend)
1 1/2 cups gf flour blend and (such as Bob’s red mill one to one)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1 bottle of gluten free beer 12oz / 355ml
1 tablespoon olive oil
Topping:
olive oil
sesame seeds / flaxseed / sunflower seeds
Directions are same as the Basic Beer Bread below.
Basic Beer Bread Ingredients
1 1/2 cups organic sprouted spelt flour
1 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 bottle of malt beer or lager beer 12oz / 355ml
1 tablespoon flaxseed
1 tablespoon olive oil
Directions
Heat oven to 375 F
In a food processor or a mixing bowl add the flours, baking powder and salt, pulse twice. Then, add the beer and rest of the ingredients, and start pulsing until combined, or mix with a spatula if not using a food processor. Take a loaf pan and spray with olive oil. Pour the dough into the pan. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with topping of your choice. Bake for about 40-50 minutes, until golden brown. You can modify the topping with your favorite seeds / nuts or herbs such as sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, herbes de provence, zaatar etc.
When cooled down, slice and keep in a ziplock bag in the fridge. Toast a slice before serving.
